Trump Derangement Syndrome....
Those are fighting words! At least they were fighting words on the View when Whoopi and Judge Jeanine went toe to toe, slinging insults, profanity and spittle.
I don't like Judge Jeanine. Let me reword that. I can't stand Judge Jeanine. I think she out-means just about any liberal woman I can think of. Whoopi, Joy Behar, Maxine Waters...can't hold a candle to Judge Jeanine. Rosie O'Donnell might come close to being the flip side of the Judge Jeanine coin. Rosie is on the liberal side and Judge Jeanine is on the conservative side. Either way...heads or tails...you lose because they are both mean...condescending and full of themselves.
I don't like the term Trump Derangement Syndrome. It is definitely a put down. It is definitely a conversation ender...just another way of saying...that's bullshit. Conservative Trump supporters use it to silence his critics. Obviously his critics have fallen prey to the fake news stories and the unfounded mass hysteria that surround this current president. Any criticism can be chalked up to the syndrome.
Uh huh. Okay.
On second thought, they might just have a point. There is such a thing as Trump Derangement Syndrome...although I think it mostly affects his supporters. Some of his base are so invested in making Trump into the great president he so obviously is not, they don't look any farther than the memes they read on Facebook.
Case in point....the return of the remains of US soldiers who fought and died in North Korea. I've seen several memes yesterday...and again today...boasting of Trump's accomplishment in bringing home 70 remains of fallen soldiers. No other president could do this. It took THIS special president (as one of the memes referred to him) to do it. Except that those are not the facts.
Here is a quote from a Fox News affiliate:
Of the nearly 8,000 Americans who were killed in battle, missing or captured, more than 5,000 of them were believed to be in North Korea. Since 1990, North Korea has repatriated the remains of 340 US troops.
And from Wikipedia:
The bodies of about 7,700 U.S. military personnel who went missing during the Korean war are still unrecovered as of 2018, and most of these bodies are believed to be in North Korea. Between 1990 and 2018, North Korea returned the remains of 340 soldiers. The June 12, 2018 summit between the US and North Korea included a vague agreement to begin repatriating American POW/MIA remains. A U.S. spokesperson said that remains are expected to be received in late June or early July.
Here is another link to an informative article authored by the National Committee on North Korea. Or do a google search. There is quite a bit of info out there about our relationship with North Korea before and after the war.
So other presidents have indeed cared enough to bring home the remains of fallen soldiers from North Korea but because of Trump Derangement Syndrome many of his followers have no real interest in doing a two minute google search to see if the memes are true. This syndrome, it seems, afflicts more than just those who are dead set against him.
I should add that some of the articles I read reported that in the past the less than above board North Koreans have included animal bones. Some of the remains were co-mingled. There will be a lengthy DNA process to determine if the remains are really US military. The US also pays all costs associated with returning the remains.
Did the Trump administration do a good thing by getting these remains back. Yes, they did..and I am not so deranged that I won't acknowledge that.
