John 1:
45Philip found Nathanael and said to him, "We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote--Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."
46And Nathanael said to him, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?"
Philip said to him, "Come and see." NKJV
45Philip went and found Nathanael and told him, "We've found the One Moses wrote of in the Law, the One preached by the prophets. It's Jesus, Joseph's son, the one from Nazareth!" 46Nathanael said, "Nazareth? You've got to be kidding."
But Philip said, "Come, see for yourself." Message
It seems that many today are certain they will only find Christ where they expect to find Christ. In the pages of Scripture….in the right church, teaching the right doctrine. I see many in Christianity today who, along with Nathaniel, have formed their opinions…etched in stone about where they will find the Christ….and have pretty much eliminated “Nazareth” as a place he might dwell.
Are there places you are certain you would never find the Christ? A mosque? A Unitarian church? A synagogue? A Buddhist temple? Do you echo Nathaniel in the no nonsense words of The Message Bible?
“Nazareth? You’ve got to be kidding.”
Like Nathaniel, you just might be surprised.
