The Hybrid....

On Heart 2 Heart, the message board on Gary Sigler's site…in a thread entitled “reincarnation” ....a poster who goes by the name RonSigler made a statement that captured my attention:

as God {man} evolves, a hybrid is in the making. This hybrid then, will be able to see all things from both the human and the divine perspectives

It’s funny how a very simple statement can sometimes tie up a lot of loose ends while…at the same time leading to more questions. That was the case with this statement.

I looked up the word hybrid on Wordsmyth. One of the definitions (among other less politically correct words like half breed, mongrel…and worse) was the word “cross”. Of course…I’ve heard that used many times. About dogs…a peekapoo is a cross between a Pekingnese and a poodle. A tangelo is a cross between an orange and a grapefruit.  A mule is a cross between a horse and a donkey. And the new creation man is a a cross between mankind and God.

I find it striking that the place where the supernatural event of the greatest significance in this union of man and God took place on a cross. That event…the crucifixion…on an old rugged cross somehow bridges the gap between man and God. The atonement…the at..one…ment. A cross between mankind and God.

There are many theories about how this actually works. I think that some of those theories, like penal substitution, are a travesty to the character and nature of God….yet, I don’t have it all down pat even though I’ve posted about the atonement quite often on this blog. But something of great significance happened there to break down the walls, open blind eyes, rend the veil…bridge the gap.

More on this in my next post…..
